Taxi in Bali
Getting around is very easy in Bali, since there are literally hundreds of taxis in Bali. Today we would like to inform you a bit about the rates that you can expect when you step into a taxi in Bali.
Metered taxis are very common in southern Bali, however, the more north you go the harder you will find it to get a taxi. The minimum charge is Rp 5,000 for the first two kilometres and the meter ticks up Rp 5,000 per kilometre after that. For waiting time you will be charged around Rp 20,000 per hour. Trips outside southern Bali will be charged an extra 30%, as the driver has to go back empty. By far the most reliable and biggest taxi company is Blue Bird; they have a telephone call service (+62 361 701111) so you can book ahead. Generally any hotel can also haul you a taxi and you can indicate if you want to have a Bluebird arranged.
If you catch a taxi on the street, the Blue Bird taxi cars are always sky blue with a white top light. The cars are modern and the drivers are well-informed with a decent level of English. If day-tripping, it is often cheaper and more convenient to arrange a freelance driver.
